Mount Baldy Ski Shack

We hiked up to the Mount Baldy Ski shack which is just over half-way to the top of Mount Baldy. We were so excited to get out above the smog and be in the mountains. Though we have enjoyed our visits to the beach we feel we are more at home in the mountains. Like any where else in California, there were plenty of people to keep the trails full while hiking, but great to see people out and moving.

See the little green hut in the middle of all of the trees that are also green? That is where we hiked to.

A Ratt'ler that snaked right by us while we stopped to eat lunch.

I thought these giant spikey bals were amazing. They can grow straight out of the rock walls.

Maui Jim Surf Monkey

Chris had a conference in Carlsbad, just on the coast. Our hotel was really nice and had a direct link with Legoland. We didn't go, but Legoland sure looks fun. We did a little 5k that Saturday. We haven't done any races in a while and it's taken longer than we thought to get in our groove here in Cali, so we were glad to have a little competition, even though it was small and we didn't win anything. Those who did win won a giant surfing monkey as a trophy. Along with the 5k run people could compete in the one mile swim - with or without a wetsuit, and/or a 3 or 6 mile paddleboard competition. Those who did all three sports competed for the Giant Banana. It was fun to be there and see it all happen.

My Favorite Part of Easy Mac

Maybe this is gross, but I like Easy Mac. I only eat it once in a while, but I think it is so cool how the noodles stand straight up after you take them out of the microwave.
